As we pass the half way point in our financial year, now is a good time to reflect upon what has happened in our business year to date. We have a good amount of activity to review and the remainder of the year to shape and plan our destiny.

It is fair to say we had a slow start to 2018 with fewer sales year on year, probably due to the long cold winter and the fact that much of our region was covered in snow. We even saw snow at Easter!

Since then the market has really got into its stride and we have good momentum and we have seen a very high number of sales being agreed.

The backdrop of the economy, the ongoing drama of Brexit and the cooling of the London market have in some places hardened activity but at Perry Bishop and Chambers these factors have had little impact on our level of business. We understand the importance and power of each property being marketed individually. We look carefully at feedback for each of our clients and ensure that we are looking after viewings to the best of our ability, communicating promptly and frequently with our vendors and purchasers and monitoring and tweaking the marketing strategy for every listing in order to optimise interest and the price achieved.

We have found that the presentation of our marketing really makes a difference, delivering the best impression for each of our homes that we are selling.

Exceptional customer service is also paramount to the success of our business. We aim to provide our clients with the best service coupled with the best marketing strategy for the sale of their property. It is interesting to note that many of the properties we successfully sold in 2018 were initially marketed unsuccessfully with other local agents.

Our photography makes our clients’ properties really stand out – both offline and online – and we ensure that we have the largest database of buyers, currently just over 10,000 supported by our branch network.

One of the biggest success stories this year has been the setting up of our dedicated sales progression and client care team, who work diligently and speedily to help our clients cross the finishing line on their sale and/or purchase. Taking this important part of the process away from the local offices has freed up our estate agency staff to be more creative, think outside the box, and spend more time with our clients and buyers.

In summary, we have enjoyed a small increase in the number of properties coming to the market through the first half of the year, have conducted more viewings and agreed more sales year to date.
